We had a great time!

Garden Party @ Campwoods Grounds

Saturday, September 16, 2017

A FUNDRAISER TO HELP RESTORE THE WWI MEMORIAL

The Garden Party took place at Campwoods Grounds in Ossining on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The weather was hot and beautiful! We enjoyed games, arts & crafts, food vendors including The Blue Pig ice cream, 6 Degrees of Separation beer, Walter's Hot Dogs, and popcorn and cotton candy. Tours were given of the grounds, and the crowd joined a parade around the grounds before historian Dana White gave an excellent presentation at our World War I Memorial ceremony. The day concluded with many raffle items given away while renowned fiddler Henry Chapin led us in period music and dancing.

About the WWI Memorial
In the aftermath of WWI,
thousands of historically, artistically, and architecturally significant memorials were dedicated throughout the United States. The centennial of the Great War provides an opportune moment to recognize these largely forgotten memorials.

The Ossining Camp Meeting Association is hoping to restore this elaborate, decades-old WWI memorial on their site. Read more about our monument here.
