We had fun at
The Jug Tavern & Campwoods Grounds
Joint Tours & Potluck
Saturday, July 28, 2018 • 3-7 pm
Learning more about each of these historic Ossining communities
We started at the Jug Tavern in Sparta at 3 pm. Dr. Alan Stahl, a neighborhood resident and former president of the Jug Tavern, led us through the landmarked Sparta district. Over the course of the six-block tour, participants learned about the Jug Tavern and the historic homes in the neighborhood.
Then we moved to Campwoods Grounds around 5 pm where Katie Gorycki, a resident of Campwoods for over 20 years, guided us on a walking tour through the history of the community. What used to be a Methodist camp ground is now home to 43 families who have converted these summer cottages into full-time homes — we got to peek inside some of them.
The tours concluded with a joint potluck at Campwoods Grounds where we mingled with each other and ate great food! We hope to collaborate with each other again soon.
